What's on Your Thanksgiving Menu?

I'm working on our menu for Thanksgiving, and looking for new ideas. So far, the menu is the usual:

Roast turkey
mashed potatoes/gravy
green beans almondine
cranberry sauce
yams and apple casserole
pumpkin pie
mincemeat pie
cornbread (instead of rolls--more traditional, and we just like it)
apple cider

The nice part of this menu is that much of it is homegrown or homemade--the turkey, potatoes, green beans, apples, pumpkin, mincemeat, and cider; and the corn meal is locally ground.

So what are you cooking this year? I'm looking for some new ideas for vegetable dishes, salads, or anything else you might be cooking up!

  1. We found some recipes on the internet for roasted fall vegetables that can go in a pan in the oven along side the turkey. NIce simple compliment to the other stuff.

  3. Looks like you have it about all covered. You could make some nuts and bolts for a snack to tide everyone over while waiting on the turkey. And maybe some pecan pie muffins to add to your desserts. I've got the recipes on my site.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

  4. Wha???
No deviled eggs for Granny Sue and her family??

    LOL ;D

I always take these to family meals...I guess they'll miss out in Kentucky this year though as I can't go until Christmas...

Oh well, I made some for me and Hubby!

  5. Deviled eggs! And me with eggs running out of my ears. That's an addition. Janet, I'm coming over to your site to see what nuts and bolts are. Sounds....ummmm...interesting!

Mouse, I'm going to look for the roasted veggies recipe too. Sounds easy and tasty, and different.

Thanks, everyone! Now I have some ideas.

  7. The only thing you're missing is chocolate, but I guess you can't grow that! Chocolate silk pie is my favorite, so smooth I can't decide to rub it on my skin or eat it. Batsy
