Quiet Days, and Looking Forward to the 4th

I've been off work the past two days, feeling under the weather. Thank goodness tonight my stomach is finally settling down and my headache seems to be gone. Whatever that bug was, don't let it bite you.

So I haven't felt much like blogging. But the 4th is coming quickly, I will have a houseful of company (again, thank goodness the bug is gone!) and we will be cooking out, eating Larry's corn on the cob, beans and potatoes, and all sorts of other good things.

Many of us will be running or walking in the Firecracker 2K in Ripley on Saturday. I'll definitely be a walker! We have special t-shirts to wear too; I'll post pictures of them so you can see what we did.

I don't think I've formally introduced our new kitten yet. His name is Clyde and he is totally ADHD. I could spend all day watching his antics. Tonight, Otis the black Lab sat on the poor little thing. You never heard such squalling! Here are a few photos of Clyde and the ongoing war with our first cat, Charley, who does NOT like having a kitten around at all.

Clyde is ready to pounce on Charley, who is more aware of his presence than he thinks.

Clyde pretends he is really just interested in climbing around on the gate but Charley doesn't believe that.
At all.

O0000hhhh! Poor little guy! Charley nail him when he least expected it.

Did it stop him? Of course not. He was right back to stalking her in seconds.

The battles continue....

  1. Glad you are feeling better!!
The cat and kitten are cute. Isn't it funny how the little one isn't effected by the scolding of the the older cat?
I'm curious to know how Larry makes his corn on the cob. The only way I've ever made it was by boiling it. I've heard it's much better made on the grill.

  2. Sorry to hear that you've been unwell, at least you'll be fine for the 4th:) Charley has years of experience to fall back on in his campaign to show Clyde just who is in charge around here!

Can't wait to see Clyde torturing poor Otis and Charlie.
