Wordless Wednesday: Swinging Bridges

Taken in Calhoun County, WV in September: footbridges over the Little Kanawha River.

  1. Hey Granny Sue!

I've seen many of a bridge like those. Walked on a few as a kid. It also reminds me of the old bridge in Poca going over to Raymond City before they built the new one. It has a wooden walk to the side of it. Many boards were missing and you could see clear down to the river! It was the scariest thing. I seriously still have nightmares from walking on that bridge as a kid!

    Have a Great Day!

  2. I can imagine that would be scary, Angela. There are quite a few of these bridges left, but they're slowly dying away, like country geeral stores, tiny rural post offices and old log houses.

  3. Made me think of some scary movies I've seen! I don't know that I could cross the third one! But lovely photos!

  4. Oooo, I can see that, snowcatcher! In black and white, with eerie music in the background, the camera jumping around a little...

  5. I saw this bridge or one like last fall when Himself and I visited your fair State. We saw one in Cairo but then saw a couple of others somewhere in the area. I thought I could come up with a photo but haven't yet. Pretty country!
