News! The 2012 Chickens in the Road Retreat

Some of you are readers of Chickens in the Road, the delightful, funny, touching and completely entertaining blog by author and small farm owner Suzanne McMinn. Last year Suzanne held the first ever Chickens in the Road Retreat and from all accounts it was a great hit.

Registration is underway for the 2012 CITR Retreat, and I've been invited to be the Saturday evening entertainment. I'll be telling stories, singing old-time ballads and sharing our mountain heritage with the people who will be coming from all across the country.

I am so pleased to be part of this event. I have followed Suzanne's adventures and misadventures since I first started blogging and realized that she just lives up the road a ways from me. Her blog has expanded into a virtual smorgasbord of options including forums and a newsletter.

So if you are looking for something different to do for your vacation this year, want to learn some homesteading skills or just have a great time with good people, check into the CITR Retreat.  You can see photos from last year's retreat here.

I'm putting a link to the retreat in my sidebar so you'll have easy access to any updates.

Maybe I'll see you there?

  1. Sounds like a lot of fun.
Not sure I can make it but I'm praying I can go this year to the WV conf. It's always a struggle and the exact time my pancreas chooses to have a big fit of pain.
I'm going to check out the link to this one. It's a must see. Thanks for the info. Barb

  4. I follow the Chickens in the Road blog & was excited to hear you'd be there. If I didn't live 1,000 miles away I would love to come. I'll be enjoying it through the blog & if it's like last year it will be lots of fun.

  5. Oh how I wish I was able to come! I'm one of those "blog-stalkers" who read both Granny Sue and CITR all the time, but rarely comment. In fact, I discovered one of your blogs when visiting the other, can't remember which was first anymore LOL!

Anyway, wanted to take this opportunity to say THANKS for of your wonderful posts. Maybe one of these days I'll get to visit y'all in WV when I go home for a visit (NE Pennsylvania). My heart is sure still in those northeastern hills and valleys.

Have a fabulous time at the retreat. I'm certain your stories and songs will be a wonderful addition and bring you a whole new legion of fans!

    Blessings,

  6. Cyndy, thank you for your comment. It is good to put a name with one of the many visitors who come regularly but seldom if ever make themselves known. And if you should come north, please do let me know!

    I bet you'd love it, Jenny :)
