I started talking to them about her, telling her story, and it changed their perception of her. To them, she was just the patient in room 130, until they got to know a little more. Maybe their charts should include something besides medical statistics :)
Granny Suehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01129064020727041161noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2634969979683449053.post-16366153722251884902013-08-10T09:29:52.210-04:002013-08-10T09:29:52.210-04:00Yes, there are people who do sloppy work, Lynn, bu...Yes, there are people who do sloppy work, Lynn, but I'm betting the majority don't go to work thinking, "I'm going to do a lousy job today." I've been on the receiving end of bad service often enough; it's the lumping of all employees/ people in a particular profession that I object to. Generalizations aren't fair to those who do try. And we're all probably guilty of doing it when we're frustrated.
Granny Suehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01129064020727041161noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2634969979683449053.post-19883583748158230652013-08-10T09:21:20.827-04:002013-08-10T09:21:20.827-04:00So true -- being kind costs nothing and makes such...So true -- being kind costs nothing and makes such a difference.
When my sister was in the hospital, I was in the elevator, leaving, and started to thoughtlessly mutter, "I hate hospitals" (face it, never anyone's favorite place to be). Just in time, I realized there were hard-working staff in that elevator. I changed my sentence to "I'm so glad there are people here to help my sister," which was a far better message for all of us . . . and I have to say, she did get good care and is now much healthier.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2634969979683449053.post-4726028267318164012013-08-10T05:36:58.417-04:002013-08-10T05:36:58.417-04:00I'd be willing to bet a lot of it is our disgr...I'd be willing to bet a lot of it is our disgruntlement with the way things go sometimes and yes if the shoe were on the other foot how would we feel or what would we say..there are of course the exceptions.
