This is what the robbers said: Spanish lady do the splits, Spanish lady do the twist, Spanish lady do the...(can't remember), Spanish lady get out of town! And the jumper would exit the jump rope.

Here's a website with some other versions: http://www.gameskidsplay.net/jump_rope_ryhmes/jump_not_last_night.htm

The website mentions another rhyme I'd forgotten:Policeman, policeman do your duty, here comes (name) she's an american beauty. She wan wiggle she can wobble she can do the splits, but I bet you half a dollar she can't do this! (then the turners spin the rope as fast as possible).

Do you remember that one?
Granny Suehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01129064020727041161noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2634969979683449053.post-6377290895319227772013-08-01T19:51:01.672-04:002013-08-01T19:51:01.672-04:00Sue, I have some different memories also from the...Sue, I have some different memories also from the playground. Do you remember the jump rope song "Not last night, but the night before, 24 robbers came a knocking at my Door. I remember I broke my arm pulling Stephen Paine on a skate board. We ran into some other kids and I broke my elbow. Sister Lawrence was always big on physical education(and science). Do you remember the PE show that we put on. I twirled baton. Some people were on skateboards and we jingled jumped to Baby, Baby, Can't you hear my Heartbeat. Those were fun days. Debbie Couturenoreply@blogger.com
