I find it very hard pulling up roots and likely would avoid it at all costs. Having said that, there comes a time when a person just has to be practical. I guess. Maybe.<br /><br />"/Susan Andersonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16049586085703324088noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2634969979683449053.post-51881539813553267782016-06-03T04:54:42.723-04:002016-06-03T04:54:42.723-04:00I totally understand this, and I'm not even 50...I totally understand this, and I'm not even 50 yet. Living remotely is lovely, but has it's downfalls (especially when you don't have a car, as I don't) My neighbours are thinking about the next five years for similar reasons, and they are in their 70s. I wish you luck with whatever you decide to do, it's a tough decision, in so many ways. Keep your brain focused to pick up new ideas. Start looking at options just to see how they sit with the two of you. We sold our home in Texas and moved to Oregon 12 years ago. Never experienced a second of regret. The best thing about the move though was something we did not give a lot of thought to in deciding to move, the kind of medical care available. As we age that becomes very important. We feel so fortunate to have such good care so close to us. Stay alert and keep planning. Something will show up in time and you'll know it's the right choice.Lindahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11586429675286969340noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2634969979683449053.post-73061186425595273982016-06-01T18:55:16.603-04:002016-06-01T18:55:16.603-04:00Move while you are both in good health and can mak...Move while you are both in good health and can make a joint decision. My husband and I moved from our labor intensive home to a patio home 8 years ago. We have loved every minute we've been here. BTW I am a West Virginia girl born in Clarksburg.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2634969979683449053.post-37849778628868196562016-05-31T05:09:40.135-04:002016-05-31T05:09:40.135-04:00There are always lots of pros and cons about movin...There are always lots of pros and cons about moving when you get older. DH and I will both be 70 this year but happily our house is situated near to shops, public transport, doctors and so on and we also have family living close by. We are both doing OK so far and although our garden is quite large I can still manage it with the help of my gardener who has been doing the lawns, hedges and any heavy work I ask him to do for many years. I can't really imagine leaving this house which holds so many memories, we have lived most of our married life here. I expect you feel the same way.Rowanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13679130612798888266noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2634969979683449053.post-25468561213625194582016-05-31T00:44:34.813-04:002016-05-31T00:44:34.813-04:00I feel the same way about our place but know that ...I feel the same way about our place but know that if something happened to my husband, I couldn't live here alone. We were lucky enough to be able to afford to buy the Little House in town for that eventual move, whenever the time comes. Somehow a path forward will become clear for you. Good luck. A small place on the outskirts of town, that I can afford on my limited resources. Going to be 70 in August, and I'm healthy, thank goodness, but I know the minute Dad passes my brother will be here to sell the house. Lots to consider as you say.Brighttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11299215170393879517noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2634969979683449053.post-51971832029937308642016-05-30T22:14:18.448-04:002016-05-30T22:14:18.448-04:00A lot to think about.
