Predicted rain never happened. Violence and trouble never happened.
Cheerful but angry and frustrated people happened. Lots and lots of them, about 750 according to local news reports.
Signs happened. Lots of them too, many pretty creative.
Singing happened, a friend and a young lady joining their voices right beside us in an old song.
Police happened, but they had nothing to do. How boring for them. I thanked them for being there, doing the job they were told to do. One, passing by in his car, gave a furtive wave to us as he passed. A kindred soul?
Meeting friends, some not seen in years, happened. Meeting like-minded people from my very own very red county happened. What joy that was! There are more here than I realized.
Independents and disenchanted Republics happened, joining in to protest a regime gone off the rails. If it was ever on the rails.
It was a great day for a protest in Charleston, WV. I can't wait for the next chance to use my freedom to speak and disagree again, and to support what our pledge of allegiance promises, liberty and justice for all.
I like the sign about the assorted ticks. Were there and MAGA supporters there? or was it all protests.
ReplyDeleteI’m glad it was peaceful and positive.
ReplyDeleteIt rains dogs and cats here now... Good it's a demonstration without violence.
ReplyDeleteThe real news.
ReplyDeleteYay for standing up (wish Germans were that brave). Hope it helps. Have you seen Tom´s?
ReplyDeleteThat was as a protest should be.
ReplyDeleteOurs was peaceful and positive also. I didn't see any MAGA people at this march just lots of support for us. We had thousands the local paper said and I thanked the police, too. They helped stopped traffic so we could march through.
ReplyDeleteGood signs, good day to protest...and have conversations with others.
ReplyDeleteWe had a terrific one too. It made me feel proud to be American -- which, I confess, is a feeling I've not had for quite a long while.
ReplyDeleteApplauding that all went well there, too.
ReplyDeleteNice that the weather cooperated and the protest was peaceful I think my favourite sign had to be the one about Parasites!!!
ReplyDeleteIt must feel good to know there are MANY like-minded people in your area!
ReplyDeleteI love that you posted this. I also love that there were so many protests all around the US.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great day! I attended a No Kings protest in Washington State and it was peaceful with lots of positive energy. The local cops had nothing to do! :)
