Let There Be Light

34°f/1.1°C, clear and cold.

First physical therapy appointment today for my going-numb hand, and painful neck and shoulders. I am happy to say, I came away with much less pain, and a hand that has not gone numb all afternoon! I can see that this is going to make a huge difference in my life.  Sweet therapist is the nephew of my late friend Mike, knew my son Derek and went to school with our youngest son. Small town life.

Then lunch with Suzy to hear her rehash of the play last weekend, all the booboos and funny things that happened. She was surprised to find that she has quite a fan club, but no surprise there. The audience was excellent for all three performances.

After lunch we made a quick stop to pick up our check at the Ravenswood mall. It was a pleasant surprise, as we have no way to know what has sold unless we see an empty spot. At our Ripley location they use a software that we can access online,  which is really very helpful in planning what to bring in. Still, great sales at both places these past 2 weeks. Our work certainly paid off.

When we got home we jumped into putting up the Christmas lights. So many of the ones we used last year were only partially working. This pile will go to Ernie, to salvage the wiring.

And these I was able to get working, along with a few other of the old-style strands. We haven't got these put up yet. Tomorrow, maybe?

We had enough of the twinkle lights to get the basics up, at least, and will pick up some new ones this week. I know that these lights are not a necessity, but they bring us such joy!

I ordered the candied fruits and golden raisins for my fruitcakes today. It is frustrating that locally these are not available until December, and I want to make my cakes before then. So online order it was.

Freezing rain is on the way tonight. I am hoping it misses us. Fingers crossed!

  1. Nice that the PT has helped and you even know the therapist.
Hopefully you won't get any of the freezing rain.

    1. We did get a touch, but thankfully it warmed up enough that now it's just rain. Whew.

  4. I think Christmas lights may in fact be necessary. 🙂

  5. Oh what fun with lights for celebrating the dark season…and cakes too! Super news of checks, and that efforts have sold items. It’s so neat that physical therapy can help us when we need it.

    1. Yes, I do like to put up lights this season! We don't do nearly what we used to, of course. We used to line the whole roof. Those were the days.
