27°f/-2 6C, snow flurries early, then cloudy and cold.
Snow expected to start again around midnight
It was another of those days where what seemed like a problem turned out just fine in the end.
Larry canceled his Tuesday appointments because of thd weather, and rescheduled for today...he thought. So we were up at 6:15 to get ready: breakfast, coffee cups filled, pets and critters cared for, lunch packed, etc. We allowed extra time because we weren't sure about road conditions, but the drive took the usual 2+ hours.
And then we find out when we get there that his appointments were tomorrow. Now, at any private sector medical office, that would have been that. But the VA is nothing if not accommodating, or at least the one in Huntington is. The weather had caused a lot of cancelations so we actually were taken right in. Whew.
So now Larry has had all his pre-op meetings and checkups and is all set for his carpal tunnel/entrapped nerve surgery on January 8th. Let's just hope the weather cooperates!
Yesterday was a getting-ready-for-the-storms day. According to the hyperventilating meteorologists, we have two weather systems coming which could produce anywhere from 0 to 4 inches of snow, in front of some very cold weather. Since neither of us want to be caught running out of catfood, dog food, toilet paper, etc, we stocked up on all of that. And we stopped at our booths and did a little tweaking, nothing major but now they are in fine shape for the next week or so.
And that has been our rather humdrum, boring life these last 2 days. I haven't even taken any photos, but I have not yet posted the moon photos from Saturday night, so now is a good time to do so!
It started here, as we reached our road on the way home from the Christmas parade.
And one last shot. All were taken through the van windows, except for a couple where I rolled down the glass.
None are great, but I had to try.

I'm sure you were very glad you hadn't made the trip for nothing.
ReplyDeleteGreat moon/cloud shots.
Wow you were really lucky with that appointment! Great! Toilet paper, oh, reminds me of when in Covid-times the city was full of people with huge bags of that in their hands!
ReplyDeleteGreat moon pics, thank you!
That was really fortunate with the appointment times!
ReplyDeleteI've heard that photographing the moon through binoculars can work to get it in focus...but the best results I've had were with tree branches as well as the moon.
Thank goodness they were able to see Larry. A 5-hour round is trip is very long to have to repeat the next day.
ReplyDeleteGood work on the photos, especially Joe’s Run and the final shot.
ReplyDeleteYou mentioned that I hadn’t posted yesterday. I assumed that I had. I’m getting old. I have many posts in the queue and didn’t post a one. 😀
Wow, how nice that they could get Larry in for his appointment even tho you made the trip on the wrong day. I'm not sure that would happen here!
ReplyDeleteYour moon shots are nice! I love seeing that full moon peeking through the clouds and trees!
Stay safe!
I think they turned out well. It is hard getting photo through glass. What a big relief they accommodated you at the VA. It's a long drive to need to make again the next day.
ReplyDeleteI think the pictures are great. I don’t go out much after dark so I don’t get to see the beautiful night sky. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDelete...I gave up years ago taking moon shots.
ReplyDeleteI think the moon shots are pretty deern good, from the car and through the window is no easy capture. We just endured the snow yesterday. JG did his usual run to the town for food and company and the plow came through this morning. Joys of a truck with new snow tires.
ReplyDeleteYou are lucky in your health provider. I did the wrong time thing once and found my doctor standing in front of the building, glaring alternately at me and his watch. He forgave me. I have had carpal tunnel on both hands and am really glad I did as I type this with all my fingers.
Glad they were so accommodating!
ReplyDeleteHow nice the VA was for Larry.
ReplyDeleteDan has a bent pinky finger. He had it corrected once but it's gotten worse so he will have to have hand surgery to fix it. 12 week recovery. He got a surgery date of 2/20 but that would be only ¶ seeks away from our overseas trip to Greece so he asked for an earlier or later date.
