Around Home, and Around WV

6°f/-14.4°C, mostly clear.

So icy, but so pretty.

Meanwhile, around West Virginia:

Then there is the sleet running like water over by my son's house.

This is the pile of sleet he shoveled away from his back door.

Nice and cozy here though. It's about 68° in the house, warmer than that in the kitchen and in the log room where the old heater and the fireplace are both going strong.

Grapes in a 100-year-old bowl because why not?

Another good day to be inside!

Today's agenda: sweep and mop (already done(, change the sheets (done), paint a small table and can more pinto beans. Should be a nice day. Maybe I'll bake a cake too. Just to add a little more heat to the house, you know.

  1. I think we got all the snow that was to hit you. It's at least 18 inches and maybe more. Very cold here too. Post Office is a very short walk but I drove because it's so cold and roads are plowed but big banks along the sides making walking there difficult.

    1. You really got slammed, Marcia. Don't you wish it would spread around a little more evenly?

  4. The beet juice on the roads is interesting. Your snow is beautiful and you sound very cozy.

    1. Apparently it works well, but can enough beets be raised for this use?
We are indeed cozy, although Larry is out as much as he is in!

  5. LOVE the snow angel. Copied that to send to my hubby. He'll love it. Thank you. I love when the oven makes the house nice and warm. And smelling gooooood.

    1. It seems like a crazy idea but apparently it works. Sure would take an awful lot of beets though.

    1. It really is, AC, as long as I don't have to go out in it.

  10. The setting where you live is beautiful. Makes me think of John Denver's song.

    1. John Denver has been on my mind a lot lately. I am not sure why....I recently read his bio on Wikipedia and it was kind of heartbreaking. So much success, but still not a perfect life. A recent article in a local news source claimed that his Country Roads song was first played on air by our little local station, by a DJ who really didnt have permission to play it. I will have to post that link if I can find it.

  11. Winter baking not only contributes a wonderful aroma to the house, it adds warmth, too. Bake often, I say!
