The one bag we normally buy for our yard used to cost 11 bucks. It is now over 44 dollars for the same bag. The price of petroleum affected more than gas prices.

Good to see the greener ways at work...

AaronAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2634969979683449053.post-24995202730988761412009-01-05T21:02:00.001-05:002009-01-05T21:02:00.001-05:00You're far enough out in the country to see a lot ...You're far enough out in the country to see a lot of these, Theresa!Granny Suehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01129064020727041161noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2634969979683449053.post-59756308208904696762009-01-05T21:02:00.000-05:002009-01-05T21:02:00.000-05:00You're far enough out in the country to see a lot ...You're far enough out in the country to see a lot of these, Theresa!Granny Suehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01129064020727041161noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2634969979683449053.post-35254522109069583742009-01-05T20:51:00.000-05:002009-01-05T20:51:00.000-05:00AHH! They spread it on the fields and oh my goodness...it cleans my sinuses! But, like the rest of you, I am glad to see organic measures used instead of chemicals.
tmAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2634969979683449053.post-58506335016757461332009-01-05T16:16:00.000-05:002009-01-05T16:16:00.000-05:00I hear you, Rainbow. We use our chicken and turkey manure on our gardens and love the way things grow. I think horse is best, however, for sweetness and light--literally!Granny Suehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01129064020727041161noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2634969979683449053.post-74114119380304948412009-01-05T16:01:00.000-05:002009-01-05T16:01:00.000-05:00Such a familiar sight Granny Sue. The temperatures here in Ohio keep flopping from high 20's to mid 40's. We too are hearing the rumbling of large tires and the slow rythm of the diesel engines. As small organic and sustainable farmers ourself, I get annoyed and aggravated with the smells of chemicals and harsh manures. We do use manure on occasion but only from organic fed and happy horses. It's cleaner, less smelly, dry and great for the soil. Our spreading of pooh consists of arm shoveling and sweat. No machinery involved lol.

I was hoping not to see these guys till at least the middle to end of March around here. I'm missing the white blankets of snow that I have grown used to and the still and quiet winter days. :-)Rainbow Treehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06289831632303585692noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2634969979683449053.post-55689602295203163802009-01-05T15:26:00.000-05:002009-01-05T15:26:00.000-05:00With all of the cattle feedyards around us, we cal...With all of the cattle feedyards around us, we call that smell the "smell of money."
