Bringing in the greens

Yesterday was a dreary day, rainy and foggy in the morning and remaining wet and dark all afternoon. We were in the dumps after watching Derek leave; who felt like Christmas? But Larry got the clippers and went off to see what he could find in the way of pine, and I moseyed around the flower beds and herb garden to gather what I could.

After a little while, we both began to feel better. The smell of pine and rosemary and lavender have soothing effects on a person's mood, I think. We created a few arrangements and hangings, put on some carols and poured something bracing to drink. The world looked a little brighter when we settled in front of the fire in the evening.

All things pass--I must keep remembering that, and savor the good times while knowing that the harder times will be behind us before too long.

  1. The greenery is absolutely beautiful! We don't have any pine on our property but I bet when I go searching for that creeping pine next year - I can get a bit to hang around the house as well. I bet is smells beautiful.

  2. Thank you--you have the lavender already, so maybe a neighbor would let you nip a little off an evergreen bush in their yard. It doesn't take much. Of course, you could come to my house and get all you want :-)
