Hard Snow and Sparkle Snow

From hard, blowing snow one day,

to sunshine when snow was falling on another day,
and sparkly snow,
to bone-chilling cold and ice...
this has been a month to remember, a January like the ones I remember from when I moved to the mountains in the mid-1970's. My only regret this year is that I have not had the time to sit back and enjoy it as much as I would like. Instead, I leave when day is breaking and come home at its end, wondering what magic I missed while enclosed in my office.

  1. The snow is beautiful this year, however, I can do without the bitter cold temps.
You can only enjoy sitting back for so many days and believe me I have had enough sitting back "indoors" to last me for another year. I'm now dreaming of sunshine, backyard BBQ's and evening spent around the firepit watching the kids play.

  2. Tis true that a lot is missed when we have to work. It just makes the off time so much more sweeter!

  3. This has been the harshest winter I have seen in a long time here in our WV mountains. These are beautiful pictures and a nice blog. So great to share the experience with other West Virginians too~
