First Yard Sale of the Year: A Few Finds

I stopped off at a yard sale the other evening and found a few things--2 Fire King coffee mugs, a drip glaze pitcher probably from the 60's-early 70's, an amberina toothpick holder or egg cup (anyone know?) and an oval Diamond Point butter dish still in its original box. The season has begun! Most of this will end up on eBay, I think. Although there might be a sister who gets one of these items--not saying who.

That's another thing to look forward to in retirement--getting to go to yard sales when I want to. I do enjoy it, but I also know my house is pretty full of stuff already so it will be limited shopping unless I do some selling or trading out of stuff. I enjoy the hunt, really, and the curiosity of what people are selling and why.

Anyone else been out to sales yet? Did you have any good finds?

  1. You know I have been, Susanna. I went yesterday and this morning. I got a set of milk glass tumblers, three milk glass candle holders (one Fenton), 2 books and a beautiful plastic rectangle shaped tray with chickens and roosters on it (it is so pretty!). Could have got more, but I'm trying to hold back. Running out of room. By the way, I love the butter dish.

  2. It sounds like you went to the same sale I did, Janet--they had milk glass tumblers and a lot of other milk glass. I thought of you when I saw it :) Like you, I'm holding in check because the year is young, and who knows what else we might see later?

  4. Really, Farmchick? I like it too but I don't collect it. I ended up with too many coffee mugs so I am selling some on eBay. Now I have space to hang them all. And I do think 15 mugs is plenty for 2 people :)

  6. Nance, my sister Julie collects the ice blue too. You sure don't see much of it in shops.
