Haints and Spooks and Creepy Tales

Author Eric Douglas issued a challenge to other writers to write a 100-word story for Halloween. It sounded like something right up my alley, so I took it on and wrote two short stories, which I posted earlier in October on this blog: Left Behind and Separation.

Now, Eric has compiled all the submissions into one list. So, ready for some Halloween fun (or maybe not so much fun as adventure)? Then visit Eric's blog and follow the links to a whole bunch of great, short stories.

And just to add to the fun, here's one more:

It's peaceful, she thought. Not frightening at all. Why was I afraid?

The softness crept up her body, cool, slippery, slurping.

Floating, that's how it feels. Like I'm floating. Except that I can't move. And I’m so cold. Cold.

Around her the night was deathly still, not even a bird offering a tweet. Moonlight glinted on water, trees cast long, reaching shadows.

The ooze slipped over her shoulders, her neck, her chin. She sighed, one long, wishful breath, before the quicksand covered her mouth.

All that was left was her hair, spread like lace on top of the shining mud.
