It's Been a Selling Time

Sales have been brisk recently so we've been pretty busy getting new items ready for sale. Here's a look at what has left the booths in the past week or so.

First, what sold at Riverbend in Ravenswood:

We said good-bye today to the 1948 Tappan gas range we had for sale in our Riverbend booth. The old stove is making its way to Arkansas, thanks to eBay. I listed the stove as a local pickup item and a couple who knew they'd be traveling through here bought it. They were as excited to get it as we were to see it heading off to a new home where it will be polished up and cherished.

The entryway piece we made from a box, an old door a shelf and some hooks only lasted a week in the booth. It sold through a boosted Facebook post on my Bird in Hand page. A local lady bought it, and put several other things on layaway too. It just go to show there's more than one way to get a job done!

The china cabinet I painted earlier this spring also left the mall this weekend, so we had that space to fill as well.

My pink chair that I really loved didn't last long in the booth either. I'd had it in my bedroom for about 5 years but I needed the space for a bookshelf so the chair went to the booth. Surprisingly, I cannot find one photo of it! Ah me. I will miss that chair, but I know its new owner will love it as much as I did.

In Marietta: Furniture moves slower in Marietta, with the smaller items usually making up the bulk of our sales. But we did sell this old primitive door recently,

and the small primitive desk I painted also sold and went to its new home.

Last week this sideboard sold too, so we scrambled to bring in replacement pieces last week to fill the empty space.

And wouldn't you know, one of them, this smaller "married" cabinet, was put on layaway today so I'll have to get to work on something to replace it.

With summer storytelling performances beginning at the end of this week, my painting days may be limited for a little while. I am hoping I can still squeeze in enough time to get some things done. This is a good problem to have!

  1. Sounds like a busy time! Do you ever have a hard time pricing things? I really get stuck on that part of selling.

  2. I do, Quinn! It's hard to put a value on things that we've worked on. I try to price reasonably so people can afford them but at the same time I have to be sure I'm fair to myself. The stove I know we made very little, but I don't care. My main goal was to keep it from the crusher, where it was going if I didn't take it. Other things we do pretty well on, so it all comes out in the wash.

  3. When I was a newlywed, I lived in an old house with a stove like that one. What a treasure! I still miss it!
