Home Time

We've been real homebodies this winter, seldom going anywhere much but to the booths or to town for various chores. With the changeable weather, it's either been so nice we just want to be outside, or so bad we huddle indoors and enjoy looking out and staying put.

I admit it's been a nice break, no long road trips, overnighters and such. This will soon come to an end, however, as the weather warms and more activities call us away from home.

So what have we been up to the past few days? Nothing earth-shaking, I assure you! Larry worked on a water leak for a couple of days before finally winning the war. Today he's running the electricity for a plug I've wanted put in for a few years now. Those kind of jobs tend to get pushed to the bottom of the priority list when so many more pressing things need attention.

I've been doing a little baking--chocolate chip-cranberry cookies last week, apple walnut cake this week. I also made mayonnaise since we ran out and didn't need to go to the store for anything else. A trip to town takes an hour at least. So I got out my little mayonnaise maker and voila! In 5 minutes, we had mayonnaise.

I've been painting furniture again, and finished up this dresser yesterday. A dressing table is almost complete, and another is waiting its turn.

We did take one little road trip, over to Ohio and upriver to pick up some chairs. It was a pretty day for it, and the river was showing her good side after all the rain we've had recently.

And I'm back to work on storytelling. I'll be leading a workshop on preparing a story for the stage the first weekend in April so I need to brush the dust off my storytelling mind and get my plans for the workshop completed. And I'll be performing with a friend on World Storytelling Day, telling Celtic tales at the Parkersburg library.

So just ordinary stuff, nothing exciting to report at all. Except for this! A surprise gift in the mail of homemade chocolates! Talk about a day-brightener!
