Covid Journal, Day 116: Exercise

74 and humid. Supposed to be about 94 today. Watered all my flower planters, and watered the corn garden this morning as we continue the watering rotation.

Lots of pink and orange in the gardens right now. I need to think about that when planning for next year.
One more day of getting outside early to get our work done. Today's work:

  • water the corn garden (Larry)
  • water the flower planters (me)
  • pick up all the clippings from the flower garden I cut back yesterday and put them in the veggie garden for mulch (both)
  • harvest the garlic (both)
  • tie up the tomatoes (Larry)
  • string trim around the big flower bed and along the bank in front of it (me)
  • weedeat areas that were missed last week (Larry)
  • pick squash (Larry)
  • pick a bouquet for the house (me)
When we finished, it was time for breakfast and a break. Then we took the ebay packages to the mailbox, Larry fed the birds while I washed breakfast dishes. After that, we unloaded a china cabinet from the van, and loaded up the corner cabinet and two end tables to take to a booth. Then I painted the last coat on a child's rocker while Larry went back out to put away tools.

Now it's noon, and hot as can be already. I'm on my second set of clothes, and he's on his third.

As I looked back over the morning, I thought about the fact that I don't have an exercise routine, and yet I did plenty of the following:
weightlifting (furniture)
bending (picking up clippings)
stretching (ditto)
carrying weights (watering cans)
walking (string trimming and all the above)

So the only things missing are kneebends and pushups! Joking of course, but one can get quite a workout just in the normal course of a day's activity. My day isn't half over yet, but the rest of it won't be so strenuous--making bread and painting, and packing ebay to ship.

About the china cabinet--here's what it looks like now.

It's a mustard color with beige interior. I have to say, it's not a color combination I like. I'll be painting it white; the beige may stay after I see how it looks with the white.

  2. Don't kid yourself, yard work is some serious exercise. I always feel it early in the gardening season when I've been digging and bending. I can barely walk the next day! And in this heat, you're probably burning major calories :) -Jenn

  3. Can't wait to see what you do with that china closet. It certainly is a sad color right now!

  4. The rocker looks great. That sure is a long list of chores glad you getting it done. I don't think I would like the humidity at all. :)

  5. I am a three-outfit person on most days. Actually, it's however many times I go out for more than 5 minutes! Gosh we are having some unpleasant weather!

  6. I love the cabinet but do admit I might like it better white.
