Thunder in January: Proved True!

35 this morning, overcast. Started the day with rain showers that soon turned to snow showers off and on all day.

Happy Friday the 13th! So far all is well, no mishaps, but there are still a few hours to go. Fingers crossed!

Remember yesterday's post about thunder in January folklore? One of the sayings was that thunder in January meant snow would fly within 7-10 days. And here we are today with snow showers. Chalk one up to folk wisdom!

We bad been preparing all week for a visit from our oldest son and his wife. But this morning I called him and after checking the weather, we decided it was wiser that he come later on. He lives on the other side of West Virginia,  and would have to cross the mountains to get here. And his wife is still recovering from some bug and couldn't come anyway.

The good part of company coming, besides of course seeing those we love, is that I have to clean house. Well, not really clean because I do that daily, but we have to clean up the many projects and booth merchandise scattered all over the place. So this week I hustled to get two tables finished, and put away all my supplies, again. Then packed away all the various merchandise we had here and there. That's the downside of doing this business from home. 

But now we are all tidied up, and I can start a new project! A kitchen flatware cabinet is just waiting for paint, so I will start that tomorrow or Sunday. 

Here's a peak at what I finished this week, all set up in our booth in Ripley today.

This was a droplete table, but the sides completely covered the sweet table underneath. So we removed them. Now it's a sweet worktable.

This one was also a dropleaf but we liked it as it was. This one was made in the 1930s in New England.

We thought this table was sold. It had been on layaway but the lady changed her mind, and the staff forgot to tell us :/  Sadly we had passed up at least 3 opportunities to sell it. Part of the business I guess.

I added a few vintage kitchen tools too, 

and this unusual 1930s egg cooker. The little bird whistles when the eggs in the copper pan are done!

We have had this teaset in the booth a while, but sometimes moving to a different area gets more attention.

Added these crock bowls today too,

and moved the teapots to a new spot.

The dresser is a dressed up with a romantic look for Valentines Day,  complete with a display of antique Valentine cards.
