On the Road

49 this morning. Unseasonably warm but nice.

We had a pickup for an online auction Monday, which meant a drive about halfway across the state. Which, I should say, is something we never mind. West Virginia is so scenic, for those who enjoy rural beauty. Here are a few photosbof just a small part of our drive.

The milk house and silo stand as reminders of a long-gone dairy farm.

Someone found a clever use for an old bell that has lost its yoke.

Another reminder of times gone by. I wonder who the settlers were that daybed this Chimney together? Think how many meals might have been cooked here, how many hands warmed before the fire.

And finally back to our own county, and the beautiful Ohio River.

The Sayre cabin at the riverfront park where we stopped for a late picnic was bathed in the light of the setting sun.

We made it back to our ridge in time to see this glorious end to the day.

  1. Ohio River and the sunset shots are absolutely beautiful. I wonder what happened to the dairy farm..I would for sure buy the milk products from them than from the supermarkets. I miss the raw milk...these days you just can't get quality products any more.

  3. Wonderful sights that you picked to share with us. I loved the old fireplace and chimney, as well as the cabin which is strong and still standing.
