55°f at 7am, such a difference from yesterday morning. More humid than it has been in a while. Warmed up to 75.
One of our mulberry trees is just a golden delight right now. They are usually the last trees to turn color, and often drop all their leaves in an hour if we have a hard frost.
Therapy was a 9am this morning, so afterward we treated ourselves to breakfast at Tudor's Biscuit World, a West Virginia owned chain of small restaurants that specialize in breakfasts, but also serve good lunches too. I splurged! Eggs, bacon, and one biscuit covered in sausage gravy. I am ashamed to say I ate every bite-- but in my defense, I did not eat dinner last night. So I was pretty hungry by the time we got to Tudor's.
Next stop was another treat, a browse through a thrift store, where I found some nice things for our booths.
Best find, not pictured, was an old oak kitchen chair for $1.49. I will clean it up, add a Christmas wreath, and take it to one of our booths as a "porch decor chair".
I was tuckered out by the time we got home, but went ahead and priced and packed our finds for the booths and then got out the first of the Christmas totes. Because it's time to get that show on the road. I dread it, honestly, but it must be done as one mall has an open house scheduled for next week. Too early for me, but apparently not for the rest of the world.
I sat down to start a new book this evening, and all of these fell out.
The book was from a thrift store, and I had no idea these leaves were in there. What a sweet find. I think I may frame them.
The well guys arrived around 5 this evening, just before dark, and are still working on putting in the new pressure tank. I hate to see the bill, but it had to be done.
All the news for today. Now to wait with baited breath for tomorrow. I am very afraid of what the results may be. (And just heard: $574.00. About what I expected.)
What a lovely surprise finding that your thrift shop book held pretty dried leaves. I hope you'll post a picture of the Oak chair decorated for Christmas. Yes, it is a little early especially since you have your Thanksgiving to celebrate first but if the other shops are decorating I suppose it makes sense to follow suit.

ReplyDeleteThe color of the mulberry tree is beautiful! We always made a point to visit Tudor's when we would visit my parents. It is comfort food at its best (in a restaurant, anyway).

Leaves. My FIL once found a 500-Deutsche Mark-note (€ 250) he hid in a book a long time ago. (I don´t know if he got the Euros, though).
Speaking of money, huh.
Good indulgent breakfast, balanced by skipping dinner. Love the leaves in the book! A gift. Take it easy, as I know PT does make you work.
ReplyDeleteI mark my place in books with slivers of paper. Leaves would be much better. What a nice find. And your thrift store finds amuse me as some of them look so similar to my grandmother's kitchen stuff. Which she kept all messy in a big cupboard.
ReplyDeleteFor my taste, Christmas should be kept completely off mind until December 1st. We have two craft shows with Christmas themes next week and it is very annoying, really. I guess it keeps getting earlier as people try to be first.
