65°f/18°C, blessedly cooler! Slight overcast, still humid but not as bad.
Yesterday evening I picked a bouquet before coming inside. What pleasure they give me!
I am upset with the local squirrels though. The little varmints have almost stripped our apple trees and I believe they got the peaches too. We will be making some squirrel gravy this fall, you can bet. I don't mind sharing, but apparently they dont know the concept!
More zinnias. Oh, the colors!
Not much going on here. We stocked booths yesterday, came home and worked on the garden, then I was back out there to finish up today. I did get my blackberry vodka going, and I am curious to see how it comes out. Some recipes added sugar, others did not, so I went with the no sugar version.
I spent a little time planning a road trip north to Lake Erie. Just a two day trip, but I'm ready for a break. I want to see the Hippley Gardens near Columbiana, Ohio, and maybe the First Ladies Museum in Canton. Mostly I just want to sit by the lake for a while. So rooms are booked, map saved, and i will be on the road August 13. Larry says he doesn't want to go so I may be going by myself. I guess the idea of a 5 hour drive just doesn't appeal to him.
AC has got me hooked on a new game---Quordle. And then of course I segued over to Octordle and Blossom, along with the Britannica trivia game, Tightrope. Ah me. I am such a suckered for word games! And the trivia...well, I do all rights but if the question involves pop culture or celebrities or sports I am usually in the dark. But it's fun, anyway, and good for the old brain!
Off to deal with laundry now. Yet another exciting weekend activity!
Beautiful flowers! Have a quiet and relaxing sunday, Sue.
ReplyDeleteBut AC doesn’t play Quordle although he did try once or twice. Wordle is still on though, and I do like Waffle a lot, but it doesn’t seem to catch most people’s fancy. My spouse and daughter don’t play it.
ReplyDeleteWhat? I was sure you mentioned it, but I guess it was Waffle, which i am now hooked on! I enjoy it.
DeleteGreat sounding plans for a trip to the lake. Don't forget to take photos! We've got cool weather for a change...incredibly cool! What? Oh my goodness, things are so topsy turvy these days. That vodka sounds quite interesting...how will you be drinking it?
ReplyDelete...Hippley Gardens sounds like a fun destination.
ReplyDeleteZinnias are the best. So is Blossom.I love NYT spelling bee but Blossom really stretches me in different ways!
ReplyDeleteThe simple pleasures of life, like flowers in the house, are both eternal and cross cultural. Thank goodness!
ReplyDeleteYour zinnias are so pretty!!! I wish I had more colours.
