31°f/0°C, clear. Light dusting of snow overnight tgat only stuck here and there, and is fast melting.
Closer up, not so much fog
Behind the restaurant where we had dinner, someone was getting in trouble with the law.
Across the street from the restaurant this window caught my eye.
Dinner was not at the Irish pub, as we had planned; they were closed for a private event. We struck out at other places too. Who knew so many restaurants are closed on Sunday evening? We finally ended up at a place called
Kel's Tavern. My smothered chicken was delicious and plentiful, enough for another meal. Larry could not eat all of his club sandwich and homemade fries either. We went into an Italian place across the street first, only to discover it was Muslim-run and so served no beer or wine. This was our Valentine's day celebration so we opted for Kel's, where Larry could have his Guinness and I had my favorite, Chardonnay. But we may try the Italian place again one day.
Murals around town: this one is the work of the late Jupiter Hamilton, I believe.

...Google Lens says, the "El Jardin del Amor" (Garden of Love) mural
ReplyDeleteon the side of the Mi Cocina de Amor Mexican restaurant on Bigley Avenue was created by artist Jesse Corlis in 2015. And the last mural the "West Side Gateway Mural," also known as "The Dreamer," was painted by artist Dan Toro in 2019.
It's a similarly foggy day here today, with snow on the ground and the temperature +3°. But a foot of snow forecast for tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteYou got lucky when you chose that restaurant for your Valentine celebration. Seems you had very enjoyable meal.
ReplyDeleteOh, no ghosts, please! Ingo booked the night-tour at Freo-prison I freaked out at at day-time! Lovely food and love the bench-mural!
ReplyDeleteThat bench mural is the coolest thing! Sounds like you found where you were supposed to have your valentine's celebration.
ReplyDeleteThose are really good and interesting night images. I guess the outing went well enough with food and drinks although it wasn’t what you had intended.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a lovely getaway. Too bad so many restaurants were closed but the pub sounds good. Don't you sometimes wonder wghy they give everyone so much food? I wish the food was less expensive and maybe smaller (not small!) portions. Sometimes, especially if you are traveling, it's hard to get a go-box.
ReplyDeletegreat photos. We are still having hot weather here of course in sunny Brisbane. Am hanging out till winter :)
