Sleepless in Sandyville

30°f/-1.5°C, clear

I was up far too early yesterday, after a very rest-less night. 4:30 am made me think of Jim going hunting, and AC who is always up so early! But I was up, and hungry so I made mini- biscuits to go with my tea, and Hobbit-like, had my first breakfast!

My granddaughter shared this photo of our two oldest great-grands, carrying my late son Jon's picture in the annual Veterans day parade. Sadly, they never knew Jon, as he died when the oldest one was a baby.

The booths have dominated our time this week. We still have a lot to do to finish up getting the Christmas stuff out, but we have made good headway. This is our Ripley booth; i will be working on Ravenswood today. (Right now we are on our way home from Larry's early early appointment i. Charleston. We were on the road by 7. Next i need to drop off my PT paperwork so I can start therapy for my gand next week, then breakfast, then my haircut and pedicure,  then booth work.)

I use red and green items to create a seasonal feel, which reduces how much actual decorating I have to do.

We moved this dropleaf table in a week ago. It didnt last long.

The added lights might look wonky but they sure help!

I got the idea to use cupcake containers for vintage balls from a Facebook group.

We will be getting some lights to the below area next. There is one outlet for our whole area, so we have a surge protector/ power strip that is providing additional plug-ins.

That's some of it, anyway. Still a bit more to do, probably tomorrow.

I was up in the wee hours, around 2am, to get photos of the aurora. Well, to try to. I missed the best time, I think,  and didn’t have a good view of the north. I could have driven up on the ridge, but I was in my nightgown, it was cold, the van was cold, and I would have had every dog in a two-mile radius barking! So I didnt get anything fabulous, but it was fun to try. I like to never got warm again though.

When the drowsy old lady accidentally hit the wrong button and gets something definitely not starry!

While not as colorful, this one is my favorite.

  1. You sure do stay busy! Those little biscuits look yummy, made me hungry seeing them. The cupcake containers are such a great idea for the vintage ornaments, and I was happy to spot some vintage Pyrex on your shelves. I've been collecting vintage Pyrex from the 50s and 60's for years now. Enjoy the rest of the week. :)

  2. Nice booth displays! I love those glass ornaments -- so pretty and memory-reminding. How do you have any energy left to decorate at home after all that!

  3. It looks like you are all ready for the Christmas shoppers. I haven’t left the house for Aurora pics. I’d have to get in the car and go somewhere or other and the cold and snow are dissuasive.

  4. We didn't see much of the night lights here, but I have seen some fantastic pictures come out of WV.

  5. How lovely of your grand children to carry your son's picture. And haven't you got some beautiful items to sell. I hope you do well.

  6. Mmmm... tea and biscuits are a good reward for an early wakeup. Love all the Christmas-y things- you have them arranged nicely! Yes, just use a lot of red and green and you can't go wrong.

  8. You must be proud and maybe crying at the same time about your Son and Granddaughter? See I was so angry about this....
Red and green... our kitchen could be your place.
And wow. One can browse a long time in your place!! So much to see!
Great sky... night pics (love the one of you!).

  9. I do like the twinkling lights on the booth! So glad your ggrands carried your son's photo as tribute in the parade. The biscuits are a great trade-off for less colorful aurora photos!

  10. Sorry about the rough night of sleep but the biscuits looks amazing. Sweet that your grands are carrying your son's photo in the parade. I laughed at dogs barking in a 2 mile radius. Not at all surprised the drop leaf table didn't last long. Looks like you have some really lovely displays.

  12. Beautiful night pictures. I love seeing the stars but due to light pollution not many are visible unless we drive well out of town.
