66°f, about 17°C, cloudy. Chance of rain later today.
Rain or no rain, we will be in Charleston, WV today at our State Capitol to join in tbe No Kings Day protest. We don't have signs, just our bodies to add to the millions who will be on the streets across the country to protest the danger to our country the current leadership poses.
There have been dire warnings of possible trouble, but it is important to get out there and be heard. I attended the Women's March in DC in 2017, millions on the streets that day and there was little to no trouble. I hope today will be the same. It is our right to express ourselves in this country, and it is time for us to speak up loud and clear.
One thing I really wish for is to take back the flag as a symbol of our country's unity, instead of its current use as a symbol of only one faction. It is our flag, that of our entire nation, not the flag of only the far right. Maybe one day. Maybe one day. For now, umbrellas in hand, we will stand on the Capitol lawn and add our voice to all of those who say No King!
I am so glad that you will be there.
ReplyDelete...Trump uses the flag as a sign of division.
ReplyDeleteHow did it go? I put up photos from the one we attended on my blog.
ReplyDeleteAt the No Kings I attended there were many U.S. and military flags as well as veteran shirts and hats. I hope that sends a message that we are for this country and her principles and ideals. We are AGAINST Trump and his minions.
