Snowy Old Day

28°f/-2°C, snow.

A good day to stay home today, as it's quite icy under the snow due to yesterday's rain.

The dogs, of course, had a blast! Look how they tracked up the snow in just a few minutes.

We spent yesterday working on projects.
We thought we had this formica topped table ready to go, but after looking again at the legs, we decided they needed to come off and be stripped, then painted again. The top is in near-perfect condition, at least.

I pulled these from a tote packed away long ago, and listed them on ebay. I spent a couple hours listing other things too, and I will expect sales to perk up in the next couple days, as it seems that listing usually triggers sales. Odd but true.

I listed this cool old light fixture too. It's brass and glass and needs to be retired, but it would be stunning if restored.

Also listed this glass lady bottle from Spain,

and this Steiff puppet from Germany. All of these have been languishing in totes, waiting on me. It feels good to finally get them out and listed.

Don't you love this face? Calling Iris's Henry!

We rounded up our son Derek and his buddy Mark yesterday evening to help our friend Bill get a hospital bed moved into his house. Bill is 83 and will get his knee replaced next week. Someone gave him this bed which was never used as the man didnt like it. It was easy as pie for my son and Mark to get it moved in and set up.

Afterwards we joined Derek's trivia team at a local restaurant for the weekly game. I was amazed that I actually knew a few of the answers! Last time we played knew zero answers, so it was restorative to my ego to get some right---and our team, the Bad Golfers, won! We had a great time, with good food and good company.

I'd better get back in the kitchen to check on my "leftovers soup" that's simmering as I write, and also finish up the little stool i am painting today. A pretty pleasant way to spend this cold, snowy day.

  4. I see that there is looking a bit like here as it does from time to time. I like that first picture.

  5. We had a fine winter storm - maybe ten inches of snow since last night. Re Bill and his knee. I have had both of mine replaced. More than a bed, ice packs are what made the first week bearable. After that, the nerve pain calmed down for me, but icing the incisions was the best relief.

    1. Mary, did your knee still hurt even after a year or more? Mine is still painful every day, still disturbs my sleep.

    Love the table!
LOL, Henry feels honored. For real I never had a Steiff puppet - have fun cooking and painting.
