Finally.
Rain danced all around us today. We watched as storm after storm passed north, south, east or west of us. So frustrating!
By finally, around 8pm, we got a howling good storm. No lightning, a little wind, and LOTS of rain. What a relief. We were already planning tomorrow's watering routine. Now, maybe we can give it a rest for a couple days. Thankfully, temperatures have moderated a bit, too.
We planted green beans and late corn this morning, hoping for rain. The ground was sobdrybitcwas like planting in dust. But this should settle the seeds in well.
Right now we are on the porch, quietly celebrating.

I'm so happy for you that you got a good rain!! Have a lovely beginning of the new week ( isn't it hard to believe that its the last week of June already?)
ReplyDeleteI surely have had enough of rain! Finally we had a sunny Sunday :-)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you badly needed that rain. It's supposed to be turning warmer here soon - so by next weekend there'll be people complaining about it! I remember when I was working and we had a glorious downpour after a spell of hot, steamy weather. One of the children wanted to go outside in it and I let her do so. She came back soaked to the skin but so so happy!
ReplyDelete...yesterday much needed rain was in the forecast, but all we have was gusty winds that dried thing out. Perhaps rain today or tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteOur predicted scattered showers resulted in a few raindrops. So disappointing. You have reminded that I want to plant more beans. - maybe after work today.
ReplyDeleteNone here...continued hot. But I water two gallons onto my porch plants, either morning or night. Morning is when the sun blasts them, but night it's still very hot at 8 pm. So glad your plants all got such a good soak!
ReplyDeleteYesterday was a nice break here as well...
ReplyDeleteHow welcome. We've had a ton recently.
ReplyDeleteThe same thing here. I got enough water out of the rain gauge to make my Christmas cactus happy.
ReplyDeleteThat rain looks so refreshing! Your picture reminded me of a waitress I met in North Dakota last spring. She was from your area and had to get out of there because she "too claustrophobic". So many trees and hills. Now she lives in an area flat as a pancake and virtually no trees!
