A Day Out

Cool, dry weather continues. 56°f this morning, about 13°C. 

Yesterday was heart checkup day with the cardiologist, in preparation for my knee replacement next month. All good. She said I was the bestnpatirnt she had had all day. What I love about living here: she and her husband are aldo farmers, and grow a field of pumpkins every year to sell. So of course we talked gardens and weather!

Afterwards Larry and I stopped for lunch at a historic hotel in Parkersburg, the Blennerhassett, which is named for one of the most famous families to first settle here, on an island in the Ohio River. I wrote up the story of them--illicit love, scandal, political intrigue--in 2012, which you can read here. It has all the making of a great movie.

While the inside dining areas were lovely,

we chose to eat outside in the garden.

It was mid-afternoon so there was just a scattering of other diners. 

It was a just lovely spot for lunch.

We had a bit of shopping to do, so by the time we were through with that, it was dinnertime.  We ended the day by meeting up with our son Derek, his daughter and her children, and a few friends to play trivia at a local restaurant. 

Just a fun, relaxing day. Now today we are back to work, stocking up our booths, as one is planning a big open house over the weekend.
