A beautiful red sky Tuesday evening.
I have been trying to catch up with all of you today, as this week has been a bit of a blur and once again I got behind on my blog-reading.
Granddaughter Sarah arrived last week, and a few days later a friend of hers from Colorado also arrived. The girls stayed up in Sarah's cabin, which keeps inching toward completion. This trip, she put up porch posts and worked on plumbing. Another friend from Colorado arrived Tuesday night. They are all going to the Great Greenbrier River Race, where Sarah and one of the girls are competing.
We plan to be at the race too, to cheer everyone on. This is a triathlon, with running, kayak, and bike segments. Our oldest son, his daughter and son, our #4 son and his wife, and possibly one of my nephews are all in the race this year, so it will be exciting to watch.
I did eventually get over my cold, thank goodness, and learned that the rest helped my knee a lot. So a silver lining! Still painful but much better. I have been mucking about in my gardens,
planting some flowers and filling some planters, stringtrimming, and today we are power-washing the deck, porch, and patio. Larry finally got the pressure washer working, so I gave a big cheer. It only took two years...
What else? Let's see, Easter I made dinner for Sarah, her friend, and Larry and me. Ham, potato salad, my home-canned pork'n'beans, asparagus from the garden, and sweet tea, and Sarah made deviled eggs and tossed salad--and it was a nice enough day to eat on the deck. Good food and good company, what can be better? Of course I forgot to take pictures, so this is leftovers I had for lunch Tuesday. Still delicious.
Then Monday was booth-stocking day. I hadn't been while I was sick, so we had the van well-loaded, and it took the whole day.
I added this vintage typewriter too. I used it at home for display for a while, but it's time to let it go.
Lamps, especially unique ones, generally sell well for me. The stand to the right holds old postcards, which I need to restock. They also sell well.
Yesterday we left early to be in Huntington for Larry's 9am appointment at the VA with a cardiologist. Seems Larry is in a-fib, which means his heart is out of rhythm. The cardiologist explained what the issue was, and how it can be corrected, with something called cardioversion. This procedure basically shocks his heart back into rhythm. So that is scheduled for May 8. If that is successful, the next step will probably be catheritization to try to discover the cause of the problem and to assess the blockages found during his stress test. He only has 30% blockage, which isn't unusual for his age but could need correction if they are in critical veins/arteries. So all of that lies ahead.
Meanwhile we trundle along as usual, trying to keep up with this busy time of year. I hope you have all been well.
You have like 6 family members in one triathlon? Incredible.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely sky. You had a busy time. And your family amazes me. I have family that bike, that run and that used to swim. None that do all three in competition. That will be a fun day.
ReplyDeleteI should take a lot of things I am saving to the reuse place; I know I should. Good for you. And good for the daughter who carpents and plumbs. If it were catching, I have this grandkid.....
Happy spring. JG came in from the back porch tonight with the first mosquito of the year. And we still have snow piles in the shade. Argh.
...they say, red skies at night, sailor's delight.
ReplyDeleteYou've been busy!! I hope your son and grands and the others mentioned all do well in the Triathlon. Sounds like fun to watch too. Hope the weather cooperates.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Larry will end up having stents put in. It seems like we hear of another male family member after another having those put in ( these are all seniors or close to being one).
Those perfect tiny radishes make my mouth water. Yum!!
Such a beautiful sky shot! I love that dresser.
ReplyDeleteA very beautiful first pic!
ReplyDeleteSame here with the blog... and it should be fun!
Cheering on is good. I prefer that, too.
Your crop looks yummy! I never had deviled eggs! Seems not to be a German thing.
That drawer.... if I had the space... But there sits the 70´s lamp I grew up with!
Beautiful photo. Glad your Easter feast went well and you could spread out on the deck and have such a lovely environment all around. Thanks for the catch-up blog! So glad your cold is over, and whow! to having all those people to cheer for in the races!
ReplyDeleteI hope everyone does well in the triathlon!
