37°f/3°C, cloudy, chance of showers. Hail storm Thursday, cloudy and cold yesterday, never getting above 45°. Today will be about the same.
After spending the day organizing and entering all my receipts for 2025 into a new spreadsheet and working on painting projects, we were both ready for a break.
We went to dinner first, at a local Mexican restaurant. The place was jam-packed, and it's a fair-sized place. You sure couldn't see any concern about the economy there! Then we were off to The Alpine, our county's small performance theater, to hear Bil Lepp.
Bil won the West Virginia Liar's Contest 5 times, and was barred from entering again! He became a state employee then and was the organizer and emcee for the event after that. Bil moved on to the national stage and is one of the top names in storytelling world, performing across the country. Lying has been his full-time job for about 20 years now, but still lives in West Virginia and often performs in the state. I have known him since 1997, when I predicted that he would be on the national stage in 5 years. I was wrong--it only took him four.
It was a fine evening of good stories and laughter, with a a few sly jabs at the MAGA agenda that just tickled me because I would bet those went right over the heads of many in the audience. Which made them even funnier to me.
Take a listen for yourself to get an idea of Bil's style.
Back to work today, but with a smile!
What a nice night for you. His style suits his calling, both voice and dress.
ReplyDeleteThat story telling video was GREAT! Loved it, so funny, love his accent and the way he tells the story. I'll have to look for more.
ReplyDelete...Trump would be a shoe in for first place in the Liar's Contest!
ReplyDeleteAwesome that you had a great evening, Sue. The weather has been really nice over here, this afternoon has even reached up to 24C...like summer, though just a couple of hours.
