A very humid, unsettled day, with showers and a good storm. Tomorrow should be cooler.
I ended the month with a fairly quiet day, at least until late afternoon. Larry was off to a doctor's appointment in Charleston, and I had planned to go with him to look for late cabbage plants at the farmer's market. But this morning I just wasn't feeling like it, so I stayed home and muttered about with all sorts of small tasks: entering receipts in the spreadsheet, paying a few bills, doing some laundry, getting those green beans we picked the other day blanched and into the freezer, cooking dinner, etc, etc. Nothing important, just those small things that are necessary to keep life running smoothly.
Then later, after Larry got back and had dinner, we had to go into town to pick up from yet another auction. It was nice that this place is actually right here in our nearest town, just 20 minutes away. We didn't get a lot, just two things that we wanted for our booths, and a few odds and ends. These are the 2 things I wanted:
A nice Hoosier cabinet in very good condition. We will be able to put this directly in the booth, no work required. I hope. This has a sifter built in on the left side.
Aside from some crocks and a couple pieces of pattern glass for my own collection, and a couple old air horns for Larry, that was about it.
I made a quick stop at the grocery store for sweet onions for the canned salad I make, and for some blackberries to make that blackberry-infused vodka that one of you---who was it???---wrote about.
Such is my exciting life! I was reading back through last summer's posts and realized that we got out a lot more last summer than we have this year. I had thought that since our garden was much smaller, we'd have more opportunities to take a few short trips, but that hasn't been the case. I'm not sure why, but I feel pretty contented to just stay here. We had more visitors last year too, but this summer? Not many at all. All in all, we have certainly been homebodies. I may need to shake things up a little next month!
It seems to me that you get out and about quite a bit. Maybe not on grand adventures all the time, but interesting things all the same. It's all about perspective, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteOftimes, it's pleasant to just have some "me" time.
