Wordy Wednesday

Just some random photos from the past week or two.

Men at work in Point Pleasant, WV (home of the infamous Mothman).

Flowers in the VA agritherapy garden

A sign in the VA Hospital.

Mural in Parkersburg, WV, on the side of the oil and gas museum. Our region had quite a heyday in the early days of oil and gas drilling.

One big keg! This is the water tower in Parkersburg; perhaps the letters stand for Parkersburg Utilities Board? Not sure. I like "pub" better.

A friend posted this on Facebook. Painfully funny.

Ron Sowell of Public Radio's Mountain Stage was at the open mic in our town last week. I have known him for years,  so it was a pleasure to see and hear him again.

Guess who was hanging out outside my window last night?

I found this lovely Early Ametican Pattern Glass table set, as it is called, on Facebook Marketplace. The seller agreed to mail it to me. She researched how to pack glass and did an outstanding job. This was made by US Glass Company, about 1900, and includes the sugar, creamer, spooner, and the lid to the butter. Another collector has offered to send me the base to the butter for free, as it has a chip but it doesn't show if the lid is on. Can't wait for it to arrive! This is raspberry stain, with gold trim, so pretty.

Just hangin' out in the road. There is currently a bad outbreak of a disease caused by the bite of midget that is killing deer in a large area just north of us, and I am pretty sure it will soon be affecting the deer around here too. So sad, and nothing to be done until the first freeze kills the mites. The Dept. of Natural Resources officers are putting down any affected deer they find. Just pitiful. I doubt we will be putting any venison in the freezer this fall.

Seen at Nelson Ledges State Park in Ohio. I wonder why it is so important not to dent this trash can?
