Millersburg at Night

71°f/20.7°C, rain all day. It was lovely!

The courthouse is lit up with purple, I suppose for Halloween. We could not make out the figure holding the scales of justice, but I suppose it must be Lady Justicia?

These lights on the courthouse were intriguing too, but it was impossible to make out exactly what they were on.

In the lady's room at The Bag tavern, there is a brick missing in the wall. Is it a peephole?

I stuck my hand in, of course! But nothing I could feel. So then I put my phone up to it with the flash on.

Nothing to see. Shoot. I had such high hopes!

The streets were mostly quiet, a few people about...

and a small crowd at the bandstand, listening to a fairly good band. I am sorry I didn’t get their name but we stayed for a while, enjoying the mix of classic rock and country.

On the way back to the hotel we saw this. What was it?

Aha! A remainder from history, glass tiles that allowed light into the basement below. How i would have liked to explore down there!

Inside the hotel at last, and up to bed around midnight.

The Hotel Millersburg is reported to be haunted, and we heard quite a few tales from staff and other guests. I did not sleep well, not unusual for me the first night away from home, so I was often awake and listening.  I did hear a few things: someone moving around in the room beside us, which was empty, a faint mewing of a cat (the hotel is supposed to be haunted by a cat), and something/someone scratching at a door or wood somewhere in our house. Easy explanations for all of it, perhaps, but still, it does make one wonder!
