On the Road to Charleston

43°f/6°C, drizzle, overcast, cold.

The window this morning: foggy, dreary.  I wish we could stay home, warm and snuggle, but Larry has a doctor appointment today,  so we have to go out. I have to go because he is not good at relating what the doctor says, and I need to know. He says I am nosy, but I say I am the one who has to take care of him, because he isn't very good at it! Which he admits.

On the way:

A project in our small town, a new park of some sort veing but. It seems to have required some very deep holes! I am very curious about exactly what this will be as it is at the busiest intersection in town, and there is no parking close by. During parades, the judge's stand is often located here, so perhaps the park plans includes that? Guess we'll wait and see.

A sad Facebook post announced that all locations of Fruth Pharmacy will be closing their doors by the end of this week. This is a local chain, but like the giant pharmacies before them, this company suffered from the pharmacies in Walmart and Kroger, plus the growing popularity of mailed prescriptions---which I confess I now do myself,  after repeated problems getting mine b e filled at Walgreens. Larry's always come through the nail from the VA too.

Crossing the mighty Kanawha (pronounced Can-Aw) in downtown Charleston. This river is formed from the confluence of the New and the Gauley, two of the best whitewater rafting rivers in the eastern US.

The Federal building in Charleston, built around 2000 with funding procured,of course, by Senator Robert C. Byrd, a master at getting federal projects for our state.

And last, just a typical West Virginia road. Very curvy!

Tomorrow, I am back to physical therapy early in the morning. Seems like our life is ruled by appointments lately and December is absolutely laden with them. Good thing I got going on Christmas decorations already!
