Tommy called to give us his news, but when we told him the news from home first--that his brother was going back to Iraq--there was a stunned silence on the line for several seconds.
Then he told us. He might be going too. He's in a new shop and they ship supplies to the troops. They make weekly flights--one week on, one week off. Will he go? He's not sure, but that's the buzz around the shop. He's excited about a new step in his Air Force career. What can I say? He's doing what he wanted to do, and that's more than many people get in life.
So I go back to my mantra--change what I can, accept what I can't, know the difference, and pray.
