Beech Fork Lake State Park Storytelling

I got home from Allegheny Echoes Saturday evening, and pretty much did nothing but sit. I was tuckered out! Sunday was more of the same--didn't even get out of my nightgown until it was time to get ready for storytelling at Beech Fork Lake State Park near Huntington, WV. Here are some photos from that gig:

First up, getting my mind in storytelling mode...

Then into the fray! Here we were singing an Appalachian version of "The Carrion Crow" and look to the left in the background to see who showed up!

and by this point I'm pretty warmed up, telling a ghost story, or maybe it was the one about putting my foot in the toilet.

We took the slow road, Old Route 2, to Huntington so we could stop at Hillbilly Hotdogs. They were closed, but I took a few pictures anyway. It's a crazy, fun place to eat, and the dogs are great! This box attracted my attention by its warning...

and inside, what do you know?

Let me introduce you to "John Deere"...

Lots of visitors from many states visit this out-of-the-way odd restaurant, as attested by the many out-of-state license plates tacked to the tree.

And here's the place itself, as featured in National Geographic (no lie!).

We got home by 11:00pm, and after a quick look at email I crashed, so that I could be up and out by 6:00am to my "real job." One more gig in the bag, one more day in wonderful West Virginia.
