Sunday Walk

By the porch-- keeping time until spring, thyme maintains a hardy green color.

Faded Glory on the back of the equipment shed...

and Larry's pimped out trailer--we couldn't find wheels to replace the ones that had rusted out from age, so he had to buy these white-spoked ones. Found out in the process that the trailer I bought at auction 30 years ago was built on the chassis of an old Willy's jeep.

The 'gate to nowhere' used to open the fence into the pasture, but the fence has been gone for 10 years.

The short-needle pine stands sentinel over the graves of our well-loved pets, Pup (golden retriever, 13 years old when he died, and Auggie Doggie, a wild black cocker who died chasing a mouse under a truck) and Redneck ( 16 years old, a retired racing greyhound).

A patch of color in a garden I passed on my return trip.

The thaw we're having is not necessarily a good thing...temps over 32 degrees mean mud, and lots of it.

And then I'm back at the house, putting wood in the fires and thinking about what to write about today.

  4. Well, what a find. This is a lovely blog. Thank you for coming out of the Appalachian woodwork and finding me. And now I've found you! All this talk about lettuce and garden beds, greenhouses and dogs speaks to me.
