True or Not True?

I found this at Susan's blog, and she found it at Nessa's site. (Don't you love blog world? It's like a big neighborhood).

Here is what Nessa said:

“I have done or experienced all of the following except one. Your mission (should you choose to accept it) is to let me know here in the comments which experiences we have in common and tell me which one you think I have never experienced. There is no prize for guessing correctly which item is not true because I am cheap. Then, make up your own list on your own blog. Look for the bogus entry on tomorrow’s post.”

So, here goes:

1. I was suspected of being a drug dealer.
2. We were suspected of being in the witness protection program when we moved to West Virginia.
3. I once directed an upset man with a gun to the governor's mansion.
4. I had four children by the time I was 22.
5. I dropped out of high school.
6. A dress I made myself shrank to skin-tight while I was wearing it when I was caught in a rainstorm. My boyfriend appreciated it.
7. I've been a mail carrier, security guard, betting clerk, tobacco farmer, and teacher.
8. I was a smoker for 20 years before finally kicking the habit.
9. In second grade, I pulled Sister Ernestine's veil off because I wanted to see what color her hair was.
10. We lived without electricity for 15 years.

So, which one is NOT true? And which ones do you have in common with me? leave your answers in the comments, and I will tell you the truth about all of them tomorrow.

  2. I have *none* in common with you---unless someone suspected me of being a drug dealer but never told me LOL

Ok, which one isn't true.... hmmm...

I'll guess #2. Or #5. I want to hear the story behind 3 whether it's true or not!

  3. Dear Granny Sue,

I think #2 is not true about you.

    As for things in common:

I _have_ gotten caught in a rainstorm -- but while I was soaking wet, my dress did not shrink.

I did take piano lessons and went to Sunday school classes taught by nuns, but NEVER touched their garments!

I talked to a man with a gun outside a bank -- I asked a security guard for directions...

Gosh -- hasn't anything exciting EVER happend to me??? ;-)

  5. Oops. Aaron, you're right, two are false, not one. I mis-typed one of them. I'll correct that!

    I need a proofreader...

  6. Surely you and I share one of these, Susan! or probably something darker and more sinister that we didn't post?

  7. Kate, I had to really think to come up with these. My life has been fairly quiet too. But in every life some travesty must fall...which makes for a good story.

  8. Hehehehe... I love this!

I'm guessin that you were not in the witness protection program - so No. 2.

    1. In my early twenties... is all I'm sayin...
    2. Nope - but maybe should have
    3. Never directed the man but ran from him
    4. Nope - no ankle biters - not yet anyway
    5. Ditto
    6. Never had a dress shrink on me but on the boardwalk in Daytona Beach I had a zipper on the back of my shorts bust and I had to beg a complete stranger out of his t-shirt.
    7. I'm too lazy to have or keep a job.
    8. I smoked for about 12 years when I just woke up one day and they didn't agree with me anymore.
    9. Not in Catholic school but maybe mama should have sent me...
    10. Not for 15 years but off and on - refer to #7.

  9. I would say #3 is not true. Although I think you would be cool under pressure. I just think all the others have a better chance of being right.

There's so many transplants in Jonesborough that we all kidded that we were in the witness protection program and were being watched by a former FBI agent and a CIA spook.

I don't think we have much in common. LOL. Never had kids, never smoked, always had electricity, been a Protestant all my life. Pretty boring.

  10. I bet we have more in ocmmon than you think, Betty! Stories, for one thing, sense of humor for another. A love of mountains, maybe? These things aren't on the list, of course. Like you, my life has been fairly mundane but there have been a few moments...

  11. Staci Lynn, you sounds like a right wild child! I'd like to see your list of 10 maybe-trues.

  12. I know less about you than I thought, Susanne, and we don't have a thing in common (at least among those 10 things you listed). I'm not sure what 2 things are false, maybe #4 and #5.

  13. I guess we don't discuss my past much in writer's group, Janet. It's a bit different from that of most of our members, certainly.

  14. I think the false statement is #8 or #5. I think...

  15. Ha! I know #8 is false, unless you were really secretive and never let anyone see it! Pretty funny the witness protection one, but I could see how that could happen. The drug dealer is a surprise, but you move to WV, live on a farm at a time when marijuana farming was rampant, so I guess it makes sense as well. But, geez, you would think we would have one thing in common, the best I can come up with is I had 2 children by the time I was 20. Oh, and I did smoke for 16 years before kicking the addiction (cuz that is what it is). Love you, tm

  16. Good deductions, Theresa--you've known me longest, after all!

  17. I also recall rumors about being financially bankrupt and losing the farm...

Due to the sale of a hay baler...

    Thanks Carrol,

    Aaron
