Time to Vote

Tomorrow! Yes, it's been a horrible election year. The ads have been rude, offensive and often inaccurate or downright false. The calls have interrupted our lives. Our mailboxes have been filled with trash.

Still. We need to vote. Even though these days it seems that corporations are actually running the government and politicians say whatever they think will get them elected. We need to vote, make our voices heard even if we will be drowned out by big money within months.

After we vote, we need to pay attention. Find out about the ALEC Conference and let your legislators know that it's lobbying and needs to be reported like lobbying. As long as events like this go unnoticed, our votes will mean little because corporations and special interests will continue to write the laws that govern us--and odds are those laws won't be to our benefit. I for one will be most interested if our new senator, whoever he might be, becomes a member of this questionable organization.

I hope you will join me in voting tomorrow. If we don't vote, we lose our right to complain--even worse, we relinquish our right to make a difference.

Here are five more reasons to vote:

1. It's free!
2. It doesn't contain any calories.
3. They call it "exercising" your right to vote. So it's exercise, right?
4. Fall is a great time for a drive or a walk.
5. You can feel superior to all those who did not get out there and vote!

  1. Hey Granny Sue!

The commercials are driving me nuts on tv and radio. I think they are worse on radio. I've been listening to cds and watching as much satellite and dvds as I can to avoid the campaign ads! To date I've only received one phone call. Shocking I know! It was Jerry West calling in support of Joe. And you won't believe this, no mail yet!

I'll be voting tomorrow for sure! I always vote.

It's our job as American citizens TO VOTE!
And yes, those pesky phone calls and garbage mailings will all be over and done with.

  4. Been there and got it done this morning :) Painless and quick. It is good to know my blog friends are of the same mind--whatever the outcome we had our part in it.

  5. I voted, too! For the second time in my life. That's right, I have only just begun to vote, the first was the last presidential election. I know....shamefull. But I have corrected my ways and have become superior to many. LOL
