Remembering Jon

I posted this on Facebook today, then thought I really should have posted it here. So...

Life is bitter and sweet, sad and joyous all at the same time. It's been 6 years since we lost our son Jonathan on this date. Blinding snow, one of the worst storms the DC area ever experienced, how well I remember that day. There is also sweetness and joy as we watch his daughters thrive, his wife Jennifer's resilience doing a great job as a single mom. And joy because tomorrow our youngest son Tommy is coming home from Florida to visit for a few days. We go on, don't we, doing the best we can and always mindful of the shortness of life and the joy to be found in every day.

  3. What a beautiful tribute for a beautiful son. WE go on. Yes we do. As different people that's for sure. But we go on. Hugs, prayers, love.

  4. How very sad for you. I can not imagine anything more devastating to a parent than to lose a child. It's good that his family is moving on and doing well. Enjoy your son's visit.

  5. Thanks for sharing a bit more about your son, Jon. I've been touched by the way you go on with such hope and positivity. I know it is not easy, as I have a friend who lost her 40-year-old son about the time you did. Incredibly hard on her, but like you, she takes joy where she can….And with three daughters and several grandchildren, there is a lot of joy to be found.

Hugs to you, and I hope you have a GREAT time with your visiting son. Of course you will.

    =)
