My photos are from the little snowfall we had on Wednesday of the past week. It was so lovely, and more importantly for many people, did not stick on the roads. It did stick to trees and hills, so our drive to Spencer, WV (about 24 miles) was just one beautiful scene after another.
First, the grape arbor by the driveway,
then our start up the drive,
across the ridge,
around the "end of the world" turn",
down the hill,
along Joe's Run.
by the little lake on our road,
out onto to highway (US 33),
past the abandoned one-room school at Buffalo,
and another one further along the highway,
across Colt Ridge,
and on we went,
until we got to Spencer and one of our destinations, the newspaper office to pick up rolls of newsprint for packing. These trees were behind the paper's office. So lovely.
And repeat for the homeward journey.
One of my favorite albums is Songs for the Solstice by Jennifer Cutting and her Ocean Orchestra. I was fortunate enough to meet her once at Augusta Heritage Series in Elkins, WV and stand amazed by her talent. Here's one of the songs from the album, In the Bleak Mid-Winter.

Lovely photo journey, thank you.
ReplyDeleteI've been wishing for snow here in NE Texas, but even the snowfall promised didn't appear! I've enjoyed seeing your snow as it was the next best thing.
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice when the roads melt the snow but it stays on the scenery :)
