Covid Journal, Day 292: Work and Sleep

Cloudy and chilly yesterday, 40 in the morning and never warmed up. A few showers and snow flurries. 32 this morning, frosty and cloudy. Rain showers and a few flurries all day. It's becoming the routine weather.

Booth day. We took almost all the things from the auction to one of our booths today, and packed up the remaining Christmas items. It was good to get all that out of the house and on the shelves. Sales continue to be good, so far, for which I am grateful. I forgot my camera, so no photos this time.

We came home to eat leftovers for dinner, and then sit by the fire, listen to music and read. It was so relaxing. I am reading Olive Again, by Elizabeth Strout, and enjoying it very much. It's a follow-up to Olive Kitteridge, which I read last year and felt a little ambiguous about, but this book seems to be pulling things together and also making Olive a little more understandable and human.

And now it's late, and I am ready for sleep. Will I dream about Olive, or about working in the booth, or something else entirely? It is always fascinating where our dreams take us, and oftenI have no explanation for why I dream what I do. So here's to tonight's installment in the ever-surprising world of the subconscience. You sleep well too, my friends, and dream of only good things.

  1. My husband & I have started reading books out loud together. I've always enjoyed reading aloud & read literally hundreds of books to my son & the children I used to teach over a lifetime.

I won the book 'Will the Circle Be Unbroken' by Sean Deitrich in an Instagram drawing. I've been reading his blog for a long time & often read aloud things from it to my husband. So rather than wait for me to finish it we decided to read it together. It's been so fun. We read in the evenings after supper. I'm already looking for our next book to read together since we're almost finished.

We also started 'A Calendar of Hymns' compiled by Frederic Fox, published in 1961. I found this book at a thrift shop a few years ago. We miss hymns & church right now so we're going through it together on Sundays.
