Booth Work and Bill Dance

59°f/15°C, clear, again. No rain in sight. High of 85 yesterday.

I have been burying my head in the sand lately, steering as clear of the news as I can, but it sure is difficult to not hear what has the country in an uproar, again. Sometimes I think the only sane way out of this mess the US has made of itself is to simply keep on doing, living our everyday lives and just persevere while the crazies do each other in.

So, while social media and the news go nuts, we are quietly doing our usual stuff, like stocking our booths.  Yesterday was a full day, as I had seven totes ready to go, the display window needed updating, and our Ripley booth was a shambles because last week's sale (20% off for us, and other sales throughout the store) meant lots of people pulling through things, lots of empty spaces, etc.

We started at Ravenswood, because our windows faces West, and I didn’t want to be in the hot sun while I worked. We didn't make many changes, just added a few things and did the window,  which takes a good bit of time.

I had a little fun doctoring this image of the window.

Here's the original:

We had to buy the side brackets for this Hoosier.  The brackets attach the top to the base, but allow a little space so that the porcelain top can slide in and out. It used to be very difficult to find parts for these cabinets,  so ebay is a godsend.

The view of the window from inside. I bought a red wig for Miranda,  as we call her. I will put that on her Tuesday.

A new addition this week: a ceramic tree. These have been popular tge last few years, so are not easy to find.

That's a few photos, but I didnt take any at Ripley because by the time I was done, I was, well, done!

On the way home I talked to my son Derek who told me about this oddity on his road.

During the last high water, and toilet floated down to the lake, and so.eone fished it out and set it up on the rock cliffs across the road. Then someone else added a dummy. And yesterday someone added the clown mask. There are a few solar lights too, to light it up at night. Folk art? Or just folk being folk? I had to Google Bill Dance---he is dome sort of famous fisherman. But why RIP? I have no idea.

It has taken me all day, off and on, to finish this post. And now it's time for bed. Good night!

  4. I love the fact that different people are adding to the hilltop display. We have a rock outcropping near us where people have been adding little figurines. It's fun to see what will show up next.

  5. It seems to me, not so many years ago, that half the houses in creation had one of those ceramic trees. Fads do come and go, don’t they?

  12. Aren't you smart, timing your window dressing to the sun. Brilliant. And boy, I love the Hoosier. It reminds me of my gran's and I wish I had that one too.
