58°f/14.4°C this morning, thin clouds, dry, dry, dry.
Although things appear to still be green in these photos, it is extremely dry still, and most people's lawns and gardens are brown.
Not much news to report. We picked up Sarah and she has been busy at her cabin. I stocked our Ripley booth, and worked on ebay listings and packing sales while Larry continues his interminable work on mowers. Neither is running, and the weedeater quit too, so we bought a new one yesterday. Have I ever said how much I hate gas-powered tools? Nothing but aggravation. The tractor repair guy said that Larry had burned up the starter too when he burned up the wiring and alternator. So that has to be replaced before we get our tractor back.
But in good news, I have had some stellar ebay sales, including this guy:
I bought this Blenko Glass Flatwoods Monster Decanter when they were offered for sale on October 2020. The company was struggling at that point, and only made 100 of these, between October 19 and November 1 of that year. Honestly I had no idea it was such a limited run, or if I knew I didn't remember. So I was astonished when I saw one sell for $750 a couple years ago. Then a Blenko craze took off and prices for this glass have skyrocketed. I listed my guy for $2500, and it sold in less than 2 days. While I enjoyed owning it, I am happy to see it off to a new home.
This weekend is granddaughter Haley's wedding, so I will have photos to share in my next post!
$2500 for that decanter?? wow....that's amazing. Hope you get some rain soon, Sue.
ReplyDeleteThese photos are beautiful, even if it is dry. The roses and that yellow climber are so vibrant and lovely. It sounds like you and Larry have had a frustrating time with all the yard work and equipment troubles. It's so funny how a new weedeater can feel like a huge win!
ReplyDeleteThat's incredible about the Blenko Glass sale! It's so exciting to find out something you own is so rare and valuable. That's a great payoff for all your hard work on eBay. And best wishes to your granddaughter Haley on her wedding this weekend!

...some days we score and some days we don't!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time at the wedding. Congrats to the happy couple!
ReplyDeleteYou sure made a nice profit on the Blenko glass!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely time at your granddaughter's wedding.
Oh my gosh! $2500 is amazing. I would be terrified to put it in the mail! We are supposed to get several rainy days next week from a stalled storm system. I hope some of it makes it's way to you
ReplyDeleteOh, it sure looks like summer in your place! And the Decanter is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHave fun at the wedding!
Congrats on the sale. Some people sure have a lot of $$ to burn.
ReplyDeleteHave fun at the wedding!
ReplyDeleteI would be nervous about shipping a $2500 glass piece, but I guess you're an old hand at that by now.
ReplyDeleteI'm beginning to catch up after the days without a computer! Well done on the Blenko. When I worked for a PBS station, we had the Blenko people come in conjunction with a show about them. I really wish I'd bought some of the glass back then when it felt less expensive than it does now!
