73°f/22.8°C, breezy, light clouds. A few showers yesterday evening didnt amount to much. Possibility of more today. Fingers crossed!
Haley and Desiree's wedding was Saturday, and it was beautiful.
The ceremony itself was held at a little gazebo at Valley Falls State Park, one of my favorites, and one that Haley frequently visits. The waterfalls provided a lovely backdrop.
My son walks his daughter down the aisle. The dress code for this wedding was pretty casual, since the event and the reception were both outdoors.
Haley's niece and nephew (granddaughter Hannah's children) played their roles well.
At their home, all was in readiness. Haley's mother (Derek's ex-wife but still froends)and Hannah worked hard to make it beautiful, and I think they succeeded. Her youngest brother, Logan, was the DJ and he did a fine job too. And my ex George, Haley's stepfather Darrin, and Mt sons Derek and Aaron all helped getting everything in order in the day's prior to the wedding. A true family effort.
And then the guests arrived.
More grandchildren:
Kate, husband Jake and coming in January new baby!
Kate's little boy, who is 2, with thr blond hair.
My sister Maggie, from Eastern Shore Maryland, was a surprise guest! I wish I had taken a photo with her, and also one with all the grandchildren, but I was so surprised by how many of our family came, and was so busy visiting that I didn't get near as many photos as I would have liked.
...jean at a wedding is right up my alley.
ReplyDeleteMy husband's too, Tom.
DeleteSounds like a wonderful family event. That happens to me sometimes when I get involved and get many fewer pictures than I had intended.
ReplyDeleteTaking photos means distracting from what's going on sometimes, doesn't it? Ah well, I am sure there will be good pictures from others.
DeleteA wonderful day! Everything looks lovely, including the young couple. A new adventure for them is started!
ReplyDeleteYes it has. Thank you, Sandra.
DeleteWhat a fun event...and dare I say my surprise at the attire of the brides/grooms! So clever! So glad you got to visit with so many of your relatives...it looks like a wonderful time was shared together.
ReplyDeleteRight? I was surprised at first, but then given how they are their outfits made sense.
DeleteA truly special family occasion. Others probably have photos to share with you. Do you ever make a shared album on iPhoto which others can add to? My niece dressed the same way for her wedding, though her bride wore a lovely gown. I only know this from the photos. They chose a very private ceremony and had a huge celebration later which we couldn't attend.
ReplyDeleteI dont have an iPhone so dont know about shared albums. But that is a great idea.
DeleteI think we usually assume that in gay couples one is more "feminine" or more "masculine" than the other, but I guess that's not always the case? These two are both what we used to call tomboys, very capable and outdoorsy. Which showed me that the stereotypes dont always apply.
I love how the whole family came together to celebrate this couple!
ReplyDeleteYes, they are well loved, by both families.
DeleteWow, that sounds like a wonderful event!!! Thank you for the smiles you gave me with this post.
ReplyDeleteIt was beautiful, and such fun, Iris! Even my ex was nicer than he has been since our divorce 40+ years ago. Amazing. Not a snide word from him. A first!
DeleteA lovely get together to celebrate the wedding, but just as important in itself.
ReplyDeleteWell done on catching the photographer!
It was not a great photo of her, but I will try to find a better one! She was just so busy all evening. A good sister, she is.
DeleteThe size of your family is amazing. We are down to 6 in all (3 generations) , and one we seldom see or hear from.
ReplyDeleteThat is a small family indeed, AC. We too have a few we seldom see or hear from. One is right here just a few miles from me. She always says she is coming to our gatherings, or coming to visit, but rarely does. Then therebis my Florida son, who has estranged himself for reasons none of us understand. But that's their choice. They know they are loved and welcome.
DeleteThis looks like a beautiful wedding and you must have been so very happy! So many smiles and a wonderful occasion. I love that it was outside and so happy the weather was good. The reception are looks lovely too. What a terrific day!
ReplyDeleteIt was wonderful, Jeanie!
DeleteCongratulations to the happy couple! May they have many, many wonderful years together filled with laughter, love, and fun adventures!
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful time you must have had! So joyful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful turnout! It looks like a fine time was had by all!
