32°f/0°C at 7am, sleet followed by cold rain. No ice, thank goodness. Raining steadily all day.
A rainy day like this is a good day to get started on the pre-holiday cleaning, and that is just what we are doing. Larry started with the ceiling fans; we have one in every room and love them, but with the dry, dusty late summer and fall they have gotten very dusty. I worked on a couple other things until he finished the first fan, in the log room, and then I started cleaning in there, moving out furniture, cleaning pictures and the glass lamp shades, wiping down everything. I haven't quite finished but Larry showed up with a big cup of hot chocolate, so it's break time!
A tiny bit of decorating did get done!
Thunder again just now! I can't even remember thunder in November, and here we've had it on two different occasions.
And now, back to work. I might just be able to put up the trees and do a little more decorating. Maybe.

Wow! When you clean you make sure you get it all done!!! Ceiling fans sure do get dirty. As does everything else. Is this a once-a-year thorough cleaning?
ReplyDeleteNo, I will do it again in the spring. Between the dogs, the fireplace, and my Larry who scatters dirt like Pigpen in Charlie Brown, it will need it!
ReplyDeleteGood for you. I just had a new (to me) cleaning woman. She has worked for several friends, and I was glad to have her help. But oh dear, she didn't pick up everything to dust...just dusted around with a bit swipe. So she of course missed a lot of dust. I'm grateful for all that she did, except for the sprayed cleaner that had me coughing in the far room. I wore a mask for the 2 hours she was here. And she realizes my chemical intolerance and will try something less toxic (it was Dr. Broner's, but I don't think she diluted it enough!) We'll definitely try again next month!
ReplyDelete...cleaning is never ending.
ReplyDeleteYou are beginning the season. Enjoy it and your hot chocolate.
ReplyDeleteWe haven’t cleaned our ceiling fans in a long time. I bet they are dusty, too. Maybe I’ll wait until the next time my son comes over. He’s tall enough that he can easily reach up and do it.
ReplyDeleteForgot to sing in. The last comment was me.
ReplyDeleteWe have rain forecasted for next week, feel free to come out for a visit! We are not judgy, but I do notice dust on ceiling fans when I am different places on our travels .
ReplyDeleteI'm cleaning today too -- mostly because I'm having people for dinner tonight and a houseguest next week, but it's sorely needed. Best of luck!
ReplyDeleteHusband dirt! Why I ever thought white fluffy rugs in the bathroom was a good idea, I cannot tell you, but being thrifty, what I can tell you is that I will be washing those rugs every week for the rest of their life or the rest of mine, which ever ends first. I am also a bit sad to report that I bought them for quality probably 4 years ago, so I expect that they will outlast me.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to attempt some cleaning today. I need a deep cleaning here. Ceiling fans, I can't think about ours.
