55°f/12.8°C, light clouds after yesterday's rain.

Not much to say about yesterday, except maybe what didn't happen! I did get some of the Christmas totes out and began sorting them, but it was really just a start. Lots more to do. I packed up four Ebay sales, but didn’t do any more listings. The bulbs did not get planted, and we didn’t go to Charleston as planned to hear our friend Pete Kosky playing. Heavy rain moved in and the hour drive to get there just didn't appeal.

So, I am still looking through past photos so I can clean up my poor phone, which is fast running out of storage. Here's a few I turned up that I have not yet posted.

In the Hoosier cabinet, I keep a selection from the cellar, just for convenience.

A vase of flowers in thd log room, just for smiles.

Dog pile! Pip, Buddy, and Daisy cuddling up.

Last weekend we saw this beauty at a local restaurant . It was even pink!

And inside the restaurant, one scary clown.  I loved it.

An old truck rests by the railroad tracks in Ravenswood, WV

Seen on the pavement in Ravenswood.

And, last, me having a great time telling tales at an open mic in Spencer last week.

I have been noticing a lot of recalls on pre-prepared meals and deli salads. Have you noticed this? I guess the only time I buy such things are when I pick up a rotisserie chicken.  The most recent recall I saw was for pasta salads. I suppose, as prepared foods become more popular, we will see more recalls, and more outbreaks of illnesses from them. Think I will just keep cooking at home. Yesterday was spaghetti with our own canned pasta sauce and ground venison from the freezer, with some of last summer's green beans. So easy and so satisfying.

I am so angry at the way the needy are being used as a pawn in this budget fiasco. It is beyond belief that it has come to this. I would gladly donate some of our home-canned foods, but food pantries won't take it. Which is kinda funny, considering that we have never gotten sick from our food, yet the pantries will take Kroger's stuff! Ah well, such is the world we live in.

Wishing you all the best as we all roll crazily along!

  1. Yes, I know the memory difficulty with all those photos! However I thought I could make an album, save it, and then delete the photos...only to find out I then had an empty album. For a few I was able to retrieve them on the iPad under "recently deleted" but I didn't find out in time for lots. Thank heavens I'd posted many of them into blogs, so that's another source of archives (I hope it remains here!)

  2. I love the doggie pile! You have so much good food there it is a real shame you cannot donate any of it. We, as a nation, have lost our soul.

  3. Rotisserie chicken is about the only thing like that that I will buy although I will sometimes purchase frozen entrees like meat pies.
