Hunter's Moon
How can I sleep
when the night is lit
with your shining,
quicksilvered trees,
glistening grass, even
the wild deer gilded
before they flee?
Downside: I can't sleep when the moon is full.
Upside: sometimes I write, in my head, and sometimes I remember to put it on paper in the morning.
A full moon can be blamed for many strange human behaviors (ask any hospital emergency room worker!) For example, here's a few things that have happened/are happening in West Virginia this month:
There's slackliners, who have tried for years for a photo like this at Seneca Rocks, West Virginia:
If you Google Seneca Rocks Moon Walk 2026 you can find many more photos by this group.
This is the first time I had heard of slacklining. People do the most amazing things for fun.
But West Virginia is also known for catapulting people off a very high bridge. Can't blame this one on the moon!
And of course, our famous Pumpkin House.
Anything odd happening where you are?
