Wild Weather

32°f , or 0°C this morning. Snow on vehicles, grass and roofs but melted quickly.

And on it goes. Yesterday wasn't too bad, some rain and wind but today, wow. We woke up to a little skiff of snow on buildings, vehicles and on the grass in places. Then rain, hail, wind, sun, hail, snow, rain, sun...over and over, a weird rotation that has made this a cold, miserable day.

But here on our hill we are fortunate. In the Kanawha Valley people are still cleaning up from Tuesday's bad storm. Some are calling it a directory, and I have seen one photo of a tornado that touched down briefly in the Charleston area. Today the flood levels for the Ohio River and its tributaries are reaching some very high levels, and there is flooding that will get worse before it gets better. Especially if it keeps raining.
Then there is the quake in Taiwan---those poor people.

So we count our blessings, and feel badly for all those affected by this weather. We humans busily plan and then along comes Nature and puts us in our place.  We will never be the boss of her!

I am sick again. Apparently I didn't really get rid of the yuck I had a month ago, but it is back in full glory. So whether or not the weather, I am not up to doing much anyway. Sarah has been able to get a good bit accomplished with Derek and Larry's help, though. I have been cooking, as usual--today was venison in gravy over homemade noodles, green beans and brownies. Comfort food.

Stay warm and safe,  friends.

  2. Oh phoey on the weather, and double phoey on feeling sick again. I've been in and out of something that's knocked me on my keister some days. Allergies to tree pollen didn't help with constant runny nose. You sure do a lot of cooking when you're not feeling that well. It does sound good. Take care of yourself!

  4. 0C degree in April...that's just too cold. It's raining over here, but at least it's warm. I think it's 11C at noon. Hope you feel better soon, Sue.
